Beloved of YaHuWaH, the life of the patriarch Yahuwseph (Joseph) is a prophetic picture of our Messiah and his gospel message being sent to the nations, just as Joseph was sent to Egypt.
This week’s portion is called Wayigash/Vayigash, (the Hebrew letter ‘vav’ in ancient Hebrew was a ‘waw’) and it means “he approached,”referring to Yahuwseph (Joseph) finally approaching his brothers to reveal his true identity to them.
Consider the fact that right now, our Messiah is “approaching” the House of Yahuwdah (Judah), especially those living in the State of Israel. He is approaching them, even during this time of persecution from the United Nations so that they may begin to draw near to him and to discover that (just like Joseph who was thought to be dead), he yet lives!
In Judaism, many Rabbi’s observe two different prophetic pictures of their awaited Messiah. They recognize the life of Joseph as being a prophetic “type”of Messiah, as they say that the Messiah would come just like Joseph, a “suffering servant.” Therefore, they say that when he comes, he will be “Messiah Ben Yahuwseph,” or Messiah, the son of Joseph.

They recognize the life of Joseph as being a prophetic “type”of Messiah, as they say that the Messiah would come just like Joseph, a “suffering servant.” Therefore, they say that when he comes, he will be “Messiah Ben Yahuwseph,” or Messiah, the son of Joseph.
Alternatively, other Rabbi’s observe a different type of Messiah. They see King David as a “type”of the conquering reigning king who will gather the entire House of Yisra’el together under one kingdom. Therefore, they say that when he comes, he will be “Messiah Ben David,” the conquering reigning king.
*Note: in prophetic language, if a person emulates the life of somebody else in scripture, such as a patriarch, they would say that he is the “son of so-and-so.” That is why our Messiah referred to himself as the “Son of David” as well as the “Son of Adam” or “Son of man.” Adam in Hebrew means “mankind.”

The main reason why the Jewish people as a whole rejected our Messiah at his first coming, is because they were expecting the “Messiah Son of David” who would free them from the Roman Empire and restore the Kingdom of Yisra’el at that time.
Little did they realize, that he would come the first time as the “Messiah Son of Joseph,” the suffering servant so that he could “go and prepare a place” for them, (John 14:2), just as Joseph went to Egypt to prepare a place for his family during the famine.
Yahuwseph’s (Joseph’s) name was changed from Yahuwseph (which means ‘YaHuWaH will add’) to an Egyptian heathen name “Zaphnathpaaneah.”
Zaphnathpaaneah means “Savior” in Egyptian, but it means “a revealer of a secret” in Hebrew!
Our Messiah has had a hidden name for the past 2,000 years as “Jesus” to the nations. But now, the secret is being revealed, that his real name is “Yahuwshuwa,” which means “YaHuWaH is salvation!” The name “Y’shua” (Yeshua) is the truncated form of Joshua with the Father’s name (Yahuw) removed. In John 5:43 (which is part of this week’s portion), our Messiah declared that he had come “in his Father’s name!” Calling him “Y’shua” (Yeshua) or Jesus does not declare the Father’s name!
In Zechariah 6:11, we read about the High Priest named “Yahuwshuwa,” (Joshua) whose name is called “The Branch,” and he was given “silver and gold crowns upon his head!”

Pharaoh gave Joseph another name, Zaphnathpaaneah, and it has a “double meaning,” just like everything else that was doubled in the life of Joseph!
Things that were doubled in Joseph’s life:
*Two dreams when he was 17 and his family rejected them.
*Two jobs in Egypt before becoming the governor of Egypt.
*Two dreams he interpreted for the cup-bearer and the baker.
*Two dreams he interpreted for Pharaoh.
*Two periods of seven years that he stored grain in Egypt.
*Two sons that Joseph bore to the Egyptian woman Asenath.
*Joseph received “a double portion” (one extra portion over his brothers) when his father Yisra’el/Ya’aqob blessed him (Genesis 48:22).
It was not until Joseph revealed his TRUE NAME to his brothers (Genesis 45:3), that their eyes were opened to him and they were restored as one family and one house!
Similarly, it is when the WHOLE HOUSE OF YISRA’EL (including born-again, grafted in gentiles) begin to call upon our Messiah by his TRUE NAME, that there will be unity & restoration in the house!
Some people say that the way that we pronounce and spell his name is not important or it does not matter.
Beloved, ponder this for a moment:
Song of Solomon 1:3 says that the bridegroom’s name is like “oil poured forth,” therefore do the virgins love him!
Now we can understand that the oil that is lacking in the lamps of the foolish virgins is the “shemen of ha’shem” (the oil of his name)!
This is why immediately after the 3.5 years of “Great Tribulation” (Matthew 24:29-31), the Congregation at Smyrna has to suffer tribulation for TEN MORE DAYS!
Smyrna means “strengthened for myrrh!”
Queen Esther was from the House of Yahuwdah (Judah), of the Tribe of Benjamin, and she too prepared herself with “oil of myrrh” (Esther 2:12), before going to meet the bridegroom!
In Esther 2:17, we read that the King loved Esther more than all the other virgins, because she prepared herself with “oil of myrrh!”
The Jewish people to this day have a Talmudic tradition where they say that the name of YaHuWaH is too holy to pronounce, so they call him “Ha’Shem”which means “The Name.”
The Congregation of Smyrna were commended by our Messiah for their “good works”but he tells them that they must suffer tribulation for ten days (Revelation 2:10).
Why?
I believe that Smyrna represents the remnant of the House of Yahuwdah (Judah) who have good works, because they obey the Towrah, but they won’t pronounce his name because of man-made traditions.
But the Congregation at Philadelphia will have an OPEN DOOR, to meet the bridegroom immediately after the 3.5 years of “Great Tribulation” for they will be “caught up” to meet him (1st Thessalonians 4:17) and then taken to the New Jerusalem (for a seven-day wedding), because they have NOT DENIED HIS NAME!
In the same way that the REVELATION of Joseph’s name brought the whole family back together again, so must the REVELATION of our Messiah’s true name take place before the RESTORATION OF THE WHOLE HOUS E OF YISRA’EL IS FULFILLED!
