The Prophetic Significance of the Number “Ten”
In this week’s Towrah Portion, beginning with Exodus chapter “TEN,” we are going to be reading about the TEN Plagues in Egypt.
Why TEN Plagues?
Have you ever considered that Rebekah was asked by her family to remain “TEN MORE DAYS” (Genesis 24:55) before going to meet her bridegroom Yitzqach (Isaac)?
Have you ever wondered why there were TEN PLAGUES in Egypt, and TEN COMMANDMENTS given to Yisra’el?
Have you noticed that in GENESIS CHAPTER TEN, Nimrod had TEN PROVENCE’S in the land of Shinar?
Bereshiyth (Genesis) 10:
8 And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth.
9 He was a mighty hunter before YHWH: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before YHWH.
10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.
11 Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah,
12 And Resen between Nineveh and Calah: the same is a great city.
1.) Babel (Iraq)
2.) Erech (Turkey)
3.) Accad (Baghdad)
4.) Calneh (Northern Syria)
5.) Shinar (Mesopotamia)
6.) Asshur (Assyria)
7.) Ninevah (Persia & Arabia)
8.) Rehoboth (Beer-Sheba southeast of the Dead Sea)
9.) Calah (Northern Iraq)
10.) Resen (Macedonia)
Have you ever wondered why in Daniel 2:40-43, there are TEN TOES on Nebuchadnezzar’s Image of a man?
There was the “Eastern Leg” (Ottoman or Byzantine Empire) and there was also the “Western Leg” called “The Holy Roman Empire.” Therefore, when prophecy states that the Anti-Messiah will be the “King of Assyria” (Isaiah 31:8), this is an allusion to Nimrod.
And what about the TEN HORNS ON THE BEASTin Revelation 13?
Have you ever thought about why our Messiah taught in parables using the NUMBER TEN?

TEN SERVANTS & TEN POUNDS (Luke 19:13)
