Shalom, beloved of YaHuWaH, the Spring Feasts are almost here!
The New Moon is expected to be seen in Jerusalem on the evening of March 28th, going into March 29th. We are commanded to count fourteen days from the biblical New Year on the first day of the month Abib until the Passover (see Exodus 12 & 13).
Here are the projected dates, pending the New Moon seen in Jerusalem on March 28th:
Pesach/Passover - Sundown April 11th 2017 (begins the 14th of Abib) until April 12th 2017 at sundown.
*Note: Our Messiah ate the Passover with his disciples on this night before he died. It is the self-same night when the death angel passed over the first-born of Israel in Egypt when they placed the blood of the lamb on their door-posts.
Chag Matzhah/Feast of Unleavened Bread -Sundown April 11th 2017 (begins the 15th of Abib) and continues until sundown on April 19th 2017.
*Note: this is the night when the Yahuwdiy (Jews) typically eat the Passover with their entire community, even though Ancient Israel in Egypt ate it the evening before on the 14th . In First Century Jerusalem, two evenings on the 14th of Abib were chosen to kill the Passover lambs. On the night of the 14th of Abib/Nisan a private slaughtering could be done for each family at their homes. On the following day, between noon and 3:00 p.m. a community slaughtering of lambs was done at the Temple. This is why YaHuWaH commanded Israel to kill the lamb “between the two evenings” of the 14th day of the 1stHebrew month of Abib.
Yom ha’Bikkuwriym/Day of First Fruits - Sundown April 15th through April 16th
*Note: this is the day when our Messiah resurrected, on the first weekly Sabbath after Passover. He redeemed those righteous souls who were in the lowest parts of the earth (Abraham’s Bosom) and he gave them the gift of salvation (Ephesians 4:8-9). He presented them as his “first fruits” offering before the Father in heaven, in the same way that the priest would present to YaHuWaH the “first fruits” of the first-cut barley in the Temple (Leviticus 23:11).
Shabuwot/Feast of Weeks (Pentecost) - Sundown June 3rd - Sundown June 4th
*Note: Our Messiah baptized/immersed his followers with the Ruwach ha’Qodesh/Holy Spirit and fire on this day (Acts 2:1-21; Matthew 3:11; Luke 3:16).
Many people write to me and tell me that they want to keep the Passover, but they don’t know where to go and celebrate it. They tell me that they don’t know of any Jewish Synagogues or Messianic Fellowships in their city or town.
Well, I have good news!
